Spring Wrap Up
Summer weather is here in Minnesota. Last night was my last race of the spring as I head into a 10 day break from competition. I did the Black Dog TT which was the second race of the NVGP qualifying series. I have been looking to try to break the course record of 13:49 which was set years ago. I'd come as close as a 13:50 so I knew it was within reach. Dan Casper was nice enough to be my rabbit. I knew if I could catch him I'd be rolling good. I managed to catch him just past the power plant and knew it was going to be close to the record. I rolled across at 13:44 and managed to get it, averaging 30 mph in the wind. It felt really good to get that record after all these years. The night before was the last Opus of the season. I was trying to stay fresh for the TT but with the wind it was tough in the field. Before I knew it I was off in a break with Mike Woell of Flanders. He was going good and we worked it out so we didn't have to sprint for all the laps. We kept it rolling until the final where I managed to sneak out the win. I also won the series for the year. Grandstay won the team comp as well. Good racing this spring all around. Good luck to everyone who races this weekend. I'm spending some time with the family and hopefully getting some rest.
